Derby ONE reporter Tina Jesson visits Treetops Hospice ahead of their annual Moonlight Walk, returning to Derby on Friday 18 September.
She speaks with Alicja Sankowski, Relationships Manager for Key Events, about how the Moonlight Walk brings hundreds of people together to remember loved ones, celebrate community and raise vital funds for Treetops’ end‑of‑life nursing care, wellbeing services and bereavement support.
This year’s event sees walkers set off from Derby Market Hall, following a brand‑new route through the city. Along the way, local choirs, drummers and performers will provide entertainment, creating a warm, uplifting atmosphere as participants walk in memory of those they’ve lost.
Alicja explains how people can take part, the sponsorship opportunities available for local businesses, and what to expect on the night — from the entertainment to the emotional impact the event has on families across Derbyshire.
Last year’s Moonlight Walk raised over £40,000, and Treetops is encouraging people to sign up and help make 2026 another unforgettable evening for the city.
